1965 • Foundation

The School is Founded

Wajir High School opens its doors in Wajir Town under founding Principal H.A. Marshad — the region's first secondary institution.

1970s • Leadership

Transformative Era — Principal John Ndirangu

Principal John Ndirangu leads the school through a defining decade of growth and discipline, instilling standards alumni still honour.

1980s • Expansion

Boarding & Infrastructure Growth

The school expands dormitory capacity and teaching facilities — new classrooms, laboratories, and boarding blocks cement its reputation.

1990s • Academic Reach

Regional Academic Anchor

Wajir High establishes itself as the dominant feeder school for universities. Families across Wajir, Mandera, and Garissa seek admission.

2000s • Curriculum

Curriculum Development & Staff Growth

The school diversifies subject offerings and grows its teaching staff, introducing the six-department structure.

2015 • Golden Jubilee

50 Years — Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Wajir High marks half a century of service with Golden Jubilee celebrations, renewing the school's founding mission.

Government ICT Hub Installed

The school receives a government-funded ICT Hub — a modern digital laboratory earning national recognition.

KCSE Mean Score: D+ to C+

Under Principal Adan Kassim Farah, Wajir High achieves a remarkable KCSE improvement — with nearly half of all university entrants from the region.

2024 • Sports

Double Sports Champions

Wajir High is crowned champions in both Football and Basketball at the 2024 Wajir Town Sub-County Games.

2025 • Diamond Jubilee

60 Years — Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future

On July 12, 2025, Wajir High celebrates its 60th Diamond Jubilee, with the Alumni Association announcing a school bus donation.
